Swim for Anna
The Regina Multisport Club & the Regina Optimist Dolphins have teamed up to present a memorial Open Water Swim Event at the Lawson Aquatic Centre on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018. Swimmers of all interests and abilities are invited & welcome to attend this fun event!
In what we hope to become an annual event, we remember our young swimmer who tragically passed away in March of this year. Anyone that knew Anna, knew that she was always up for a challenge! Anna loved to swim, loved to push herself and she loved her training buddies, just like we all do. More information on Anna & the RODS’ hope to raise money in her honour to keep kids in the pool, can be found here: Anna Rondeau Memorial Scholarship
The 50m pool will be set up with buoys in a 100m triangle loop. Participants are challenged to swim 1km, 2km, or up to 4km either SOLO or as a part of a RELAY team. Participants are also welcome to set their own goals (and distances or times!) at this fun, practice event.
Provincial triathlon coach, Brendan Mackenzie will also provide a free 20 minute skills-session on open water swimming - with a focus on mass starts, drafting, cornering those buoys and sighting!
Cost to participate is $15.00 per person and includes a swim cap! Payment will be collected at the pool (cash, debit or credit cards accepted). Feel free to bring some extra cash, as Ava Harlos will be there accepting orders for the memorial “Anna” swim caps that she created to remember her very special teammate.
More info can be found here: Memorial Swim Caps
