RMC GWN 'Virtual' Tri

The details:

  • Free for all members

  • Registration is required to plot swim heats and collect participant emergency info

  • Registration closes Friday January 19 at 7 am

  • You may participate in any part of the event (bike don’t swim/run, swim & bike but don’t run, whatever – you do you!)

  • Not a swimmer? Enter 0:00 as estimated swim time

  • Swim heat information will be sent out by Saturday afternoon

  • Super hero costumes or RMC/blue gear encouraged!

  • Snacks and camaraderie to follow

 

Why are we doing this?

  • For fun!

  • To create an opportunity for members to participate in the Great White North Virtual Triathlon

  • Rules of the virtual triathlon are:

    • Complete the equivalent of a sprint distance triathlon within span of 12 hours on January 20-21

    • Post your total time to event Facebook page

    • Be entered to win prizes like race entries & $1000 West Jet voucher

    • Extra entries for group participation, creativity, photos and videos – make sure to comment you are part of Regina Multisport!

 

*Note that the Lawson Aquatic Centre is closed to the public on Jan 20 & 21 for RODS swim meet.

 

Alternatives -- U of R offers public swim on Saturday & Sunday afternoon.  U of R Tri Club has $10 drop in swim at U of R pool on Sunday night at 6pm.

 

EVENT SCHEDULE

 

  • PRE-EVENT

    •   6:45am          Arrival at U or R Dance Studio (CKHS East Entrance) Bike set up

    •   7:10am          Briefing in common area outside of change rooms

  • SWIM             Lap counters will be available – BYO swim cap

    •   7:15am          Heat 1 warm up

    •                       Heat 2 activities on deck and in deep tank

    •   7:25am          Heat 1 swim start – When complete move to bike

    •                       Heat 2 activities on deck and in deep tank

    •   7:55am          Heat 2 swim start – When complete move to bike

    •   8:25am          Pool time complete

  • BIKE               Athletes are responsible for tracking their own time and distance

    •                       If you do not have a bike computer to track distance, you could bike based on an estimated time

    •   7:40am          Athletes begin biking in dance studio using personal bikes & indoor trainers  

    •   8:10am          Athletes complete 20km indoor bike in approximately 30 to 60 minutes

  • RUN                Some lap-counters may be available for indoor runners

    •   8:10am          Athletes begin transitioning to run after bike                

    •   Athletes run outside – from CKHS East entrance to top of Douglas Park Hill & back is 5km

    •  Athletes may choose to purchase drop in facility pass to run on university track or treadmill/or use personal fitness center passes

  • Post-Event Snacks & Visiting
